VE Day
Celebrate VE Day Thursday 8th May 2025
On Thursday 8th May, the village of Saxton and surrounding areas will join together with people across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man to participate in the VE Day 80 Years Celebrations. Beacons and Lamp Lights of Peace will be lit across the nation.
We will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE-Day which commemorates the formal act of military surrender by Germany ending the war in Europe. The celebrations will commence with the ringing of the church bells.
6.30pm - Ringing of the church bells for peace
7.30pm - Meet in the Village Hall to get together and enjoy a well-stocked bar and complimentary sausage rolls/pies and vegetarian options, together with music from 1945.
(Please be aware we cannot cater to allergies)
9.30 - Beacon Lighting
The village hall will be open after the beacon lighting for further refreshments.
These beacons represent the “Light of Peace” that emerged from the darkness of war and as we celebrate, we remember the millions who gave so much to achieve the freedom we all enjoy today.
